EBPGAME – Evidence based practice in healthcare: na online escape room game

Abstract:

The project aims to develop and test an online escape room game to gain knowledge about evidence-based practice (EBP) in healthcare. The game is targeted to healthcare professionals, students and teachers and it is an innovative way to train EBP skills, and to bridge the gab between theory and practice.

The main idea is to set up a COIL (collaborative online learning) with all the involved partners and let students participate in the online escape rooms in multicultural groups. This will not only boost the EBP skills of students, but also teamwork and multicultural competences.

CLNE - Clinical leadership in nursing education

Abstract:

Clinical Leadership (CL) is essential to the professional practice of nurses to ensure that care is safe, high-quality, and delivered efficiently within the current complex healthcare system with increasingly limited resources. However, CL is neither well-defined nor fully integrated into nursing education curricula across Europe. This project therefore aims to develop a conceptual framework for CL, from which nursing education curricula will be reviewed and revised to provide a more systematic and effective approach to CL in the foundational training of students. The ultimate goal is to strengthen the nursing profession and improve the provision of safe and efficient care, with the dissemination of the project results on a large scale so that they can contribute to other EU countries.

SPIRIT4Care - Spiritual Care in Higher school in nursing

Abstract:

Spirit4Care is a European project, it aims to support the teaching of spiritual care (SC) in the nursing discipline, by enabling teachers and training establishments to make it their own.
Spiritual care is essential in caring for the whole person. It is the capacity to understand, recognize and integrate the existential and spiritual dimension of the patient in healthcare. These dimensions take the form of listening and interacting on issues such as beliefs, hopes, meaning, values and a sense of identity.
The Spirit4Care UE platform provides newly developed teaching materials, training guidelines and resources on spiritual care in nursing. It is targeted at nurse trainers, nursing students and professionals, as well as anyone interested in spiritual care.

SMILE - Student mental health literacy for improved academic life satisfaction, happiness, and psychological well-being

Abstract:

Mental health literacy (MHL) is crucial for higher education students, as it enables them to recognize, understand, and address mental health problems. It can contribute to greater happiness and psychological well-being, resulting in effective stress management and the ability to seek help. MHL positively influences satisfaction with academic life by fostering a supportive environment, reducing the impact of stress factors, and promoting a holistic approach to well-being.
This project will allow for a diagnosis of this dimension at IPSN and the implementation of a brief intervention tailored to the specific needs of students. The study will also enable the initiation of good practices for the promotion of mental health and well-being, as defined by the National Program for the Promotion of Mental Health in Higher Education (stepped care intervention, level 1).

PURSI4SAFE - Prevention of unintentional retained surgical itens for patient safety

Abstract:

The Patient Safety movements invest in direct measures for the prevention of incidents, the identification and assessment of risk, and aim to reduce the incidence of accidents and clinical errors. According to the Joint Commission International, Unintended Retained Surgical Items (URSI) are the most frequently reported sentinel surgical event. Prevention requires a multidisciplinary approach aimed at reducing associated risks and factors. Due to the lack of systematization and the absence of a habit of reporting critical events in Europe, few data exist beyond individual case reports. The proposed research aims to contribute to the understanding of the existing problem in Portugal and Europe through a qualitative exploratory approach. Focus groups will be conducted with professionals from different countries. The data obtained will make it possible to propose guidelines for Health Institutions to promote patient safety.
